Typically blast cleaning is used to remove mill-scale from new steel items, corrosion, existing or failed coatings and/or provide a correct anchor profile for application of new protective coatings to whatever the substrate, even concrete.
Both generic or specification demands a certain surface cleanliness and profile range.
In order to achieve any desired cleanliness and specific anchor profile, a predetermined size and type of ‘grit’ or blast media is selected.
There are many products available that fall under the category of ‘grit,’ all manufactured from both natural (minerals) and by-product materials (glass, steel & plastics) that are graded to specific grain size and shape to achieve the correct substrate impact, suitable to remove whatever is on the substrate, or to create the ‘peaks and troughs’ profile required for new coating adhesion.
Prior to preparation, we select the best suitable product for the specific application required in order to achieve the desired results, so you can be confident of the outcome from start to finish.
Application of specialist coatings or linings will increase the longevity of the substrate to which applied, creating a barrier between the environment parameters and the structure, parts and components, as well as reducing the number of overhauls or maintenance outages in the equipment life-span.
Some processes involve high temperatures and extreme chemical or erosive / corrosive conditions. Whether it be on or off-shore structures and pipelines, through to storage tanks, bunds, or heavy plant.
Corrotec Ltd can help you select the correct specification for your specific process or need.
We use trusted global manufacturers to ensure refined quality products for all our projects, & NACE approved inspectors if required to ensure a quality application process.
With a tried and tested history, high performance composite materials can provide the answer to protection against corrosion, erosion and chemical attack.
They can eliminate hot works, minimise down-time, reduce expensive OEM replacement costs and even improve efficiency and performance whilst increasing service life.
Composites can be used to not only protect new items or components prior to installation, but can be tailored as a bespoke solution to client specific needs throughout all industry, reclaiming and returning to duty items that otherwise would have been scrapped.

Glass bead blasting, also commonly known as ‘bead blasting’ or ‘peening’ is generally used to clean all forms of non-ferrous metals and exotic alloy mixes.
It is used because it produces a fine, uniform non-directional satin or matt finish with low reflectivity.
This type of finish has both aesthetic appeal and can enhance the surface properties of stainless steel, aluminium, and most alloys.
During fabrication for instance, the welding process generates heat transfer, creating blue scorching around the welded joints. Handling and machining can result in fine surface scratching or blemishes, which look unsightly in certain circumstances, such as if the finished item is on show.

Pumps are probably one of industries hardest working process item, generally running 24/7 for long periods of time between planned outages.
They can be subject to high erosion through intense fluid flow dynamics, high heat and or chemical consistencies etc, all of which deteriorate the substrate.
As well as using advanced composites to repair the metal degradation back to profile, we can also apply specific linings to combat the erosion, cavitation, chemical attack and heat stresses that are inflicted in service.
We can even apply energy efficient linings, which actually save money whilst in use (generally anywhere between 8>12%) running costs per annum.
Given todays energy costs these linings have become increasing popular, paying for themselves in a very short time.

Anti-slip surfacing or 'positive grip' is paramount to health & safety in any work place to maintain a safe environment for personnel and operating equipment.
It is especially relevant in any area where there is a potential of slipping due to water or chemical contamination to the floor or substrate.
That said it is also important to maintain positive grip on materials handling plant & machinery in contact with moving items for treatment as part of processing, such as log/paper rollers & grabs in the paper industry.
Corrotec Ltd can undertake correct specification based on site parameters and install the best non-slip products to ensure positive safe systems are maintained throughout your facility, for personnel, vehicular or material grab process.

Chemical containment is used in practically every manufacturing process to ensure that should the worst happen, any leak of hazardous substances is controlled within the confines of the process area.
These areas are generally bunded to ensure the volume of escaped product is held firm until specialist recovery can begin.
It is imperative that the bund is fully protected against the produce being contained to ensure there is no environmental impact through escape seepage.
Regardless of the chemical severity of the product, we at Corrotec Ltd can advise on the correct specialist resistant containment solution to protect against harsh aggressive chemical attack to ensure complete piece of mind throughout your process.
Using industry trusted high alumina tiles, bonded direct to substrate or using bolt on wear plates to suit, we can provide tailor made products for your needs.
Unlike the composite ceramic applications, these tiles are much thicker, bonded in series to suit the contour of the chute, cone, duct, vessel or fitting and can be vulcanised to resist point of impact.
Industries such as Pulp & Paper, Steel or Cement manufacturing, Wood, Coal & Biomass Power all use industrial ceramics.
Regardless of the severity, we at Corrotec Ltd can advise on the correct specialist resistant ceramic solution to protect against hi impact, aggressive wear or contact erosion throughout your process. Find out more today.
Thermal spraying of near pure aluminium & zinc (TSA/TSZ) is a great alternative to galvanizing for corrosion protection.
Thermal Sprayed Coatings are the only coating systems recognised by International and European Standards EN ISO 14713 as giving greater than 20 years to first maintenance in very aggressive environments.
It is superior in some ways as coating thickness can be controlled during application for greater accuracy.
Low heat during application ensures no thermal distortion of thin material fabrications.
No drilling of hollow sections required, and no dross produced in the process, leading to finer, smoother finishes, with greater bond strength suitable to overcoat with additional aesthetic coatings.
Also due to the above reduces health & safety handling issues from cuts associated with razor edges and drip spikes.
TSA/TSZ is also great for electrical conductivity, used in instrumentation contact points.
VCI's or volatile corrosion inhibitors are a must if corrosion prevention is paramount for packaging, storing or transporting parts or components, or just protecting certain plant items or electrical cabinets in confined exposed environments.
The VCI is available in many different forms, including impregnated paper, thin film, tape, sheeting, bags, bubble wrap, shrink wrap, powder or tablet.
The inhibitor vaporises & condenses onto the items surface, preventing moisture/water or air/oxygen reacting with the substrate, forming a temporary corrosion resistant barrier.
Once the VCI is removed from around the item it very quickly vaporises, leaving no residues and is dry to handle, unlike oils or wax which have to be removed prior to use.
Dependent on the item, structure, logistics and environment VCI's can protect against corrosion for up to 15 years.
