Water & chloride ingress through cracks or fissures migrates through to the steel reinforcing, which steadily corrodes, pushing the surrounding concrete away, causing further cracking, spalling and eventually delamination.

If left untreated for long periods, the water ingress in concrete structures is susceptible to freeze-thaw cycling, which increases the overall delamination process.

Considering that concrete is the most widely used building material, it is imperative to maintain it for structural integrity, strength and aesthetics. Failure to do so can result in delamination leading to major health & safety implications or even catastrophic collapse.

Cathodic Protection

CP systems are an electrical means of controlling corrosion in steel.
